Every chart on this page and every seller chart on Taobao or Weidian is in centimeters. Take these five measurements once with a soft tape and keep them in your notes.
Wrap a soft tape around the fullest part of your chest, under the arms and across the shoulder blades. Keep the tape level and snug, not tight. Breathe normally and read the number in centimeters.
Measure around your natural waist, the narrowest point between ribs and hips, usually just above the belly button. For jeans, also measure where you actually wear the waistband, which is often 2–4 cm lower.
Stand with feet together and wrap the tape around the widest part of your hips and seat. This number matters for skirts, trousers, and fitted jackets.
Take a pair of trousers that fit and lay them flat. Measure from the crotch seam straight down the inner leg to the hem. Chinese listings usually give inseam and total length separately, so check which one is shown.
Stand on a sheet of paper with your heel against a wall. Mark the tip of your longest toe and measure heel to mark in centimeters. Measure both feet and use the larger number. Do it in the evening, when feet are slightly bigger.
There is no single Chinese size standard. Each Taobao, 1688, or Weidian seller writes its own chart for each listing, and two listings for the same style of hoodie can differ by 4–6 cm at the same letter size. The charts above are a starting point, not a guarantee; the listing chart always wins.
Listings are usually labeled either Asian size or EU size. An Asian-size chart follows the smaller cut described in the tables above. An EU-size chart is meant to line up with Western labels, but the measurements are still what count, since sellers sometimes relabel the same garment for export.
The reliable method is to compare the listing's cm measurements to a garment you already own and like the fit of. Lay the garment flat, measure chest (armpit to armpit, doubled), length, and shoulder width, and pick the size whose numbers are closest.
Worked example
Your chest measures 100 cm. A tee that fits comfortably needs roughly 4–8 cm of ease, so look for a listing whose garment chest is at least 104 cm (regular) or 108 cm (relaxed). If the seller's L is listed at 100 cm and XL at 106 cm, order the XL even if you normally wear L. For hoodies and jackets add another 4 cm on top for layering.
Chinese sizing runs smaller — when in doubt, size up

Yes. A Chinese L is usually closer to a US or EU M, and sometimes an S. Size up one step for a regular fit and two if you want it loose or are between sizes. Always compare the listing's cm measurements to a garment you own rather than trusting the letter.
For sneakers, yes: CN 42 is EU 42. Some sellers also list an older Chinese system where a size like 260 means 26.0 cm foot length. When a chart shows foot length in centimeters, use that column instead of any US conversion.
