Declare the actual value you paid. Under-declaring is customs fraud in every destination listed here and is the most common reason parcels get held or destroyed.
USA: no de minimis since 29 Aug 2025 — the former $800 exemption was suspended for all countries, so every parcel is assessed for duty. The EU plans to remove its €150 exemption during 2026 as well; check the current rule before you order.
Canada has the lowest threshold (CAD $20) — almost all international packages are taxed. If you're in Canada, declaring accurately and budgeting for GST is essential.
